If you play on Xbox and you have been watching PlayStation owners get a GTA 6 controller while you get nothing, a third party has noticed. GameSir has announced two G7 Pro pads in unmistakably Vice City colours, the Sunset Boulevard Edition and the Ocean Breeze Edition, at $89.99 each with pre-orders open and shipping starting in November.
They are not licensed by Rockstar. That is the single most important thing to understand before you buy one.
What you are actually getting
Per Notebookcheck's write-up on October 28, the specification is the same for both colourways:
| Detail | Sunset Boulevard / Ocean Breeze |
|---|---|
| Price | $89.99 each |
| Platforms | Xbox consoles, PC, Android |
| Connection | Wired only |
| In the box | Braided cable, extra D-pads, charging dock |
| Bonus | One month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate |
| Shipping | Starts November 2026 |
Sunset Boulevard runs a blended gradient with cobalt blue thumbsticks, sunset orange face buttons, a cobalt blue back, dark pink grips and translucent pink triggers. Ocean Breeze is pink throughout with grey thumbstick caps and a light pink underside. Both carry a palm tree motif, which is the design element doing the heavy lifting here, since it is the same visual shorthand Sony's official GTA 6 DualSense leans on.
Note the wired-only limitation. Unlicensed third party pads for Xbox are generally wired, because wireless Xbox accessories require Microsoft's licensing programme. That is a hardware consequence of the licensing status, not a design choice, and it means no couch gaming at a distance without a long cable.
Unlicensed, and nobody is pretending otherwise
Notebookcheck is explicit that there is "no collaboration between both brands" and describes the controllers as unofficial. GameSir's own marketing leans on the look rather than on any Rockstar branding, which is the standard shape of this kind of product: evoke the palette, skip the logo, never claim the licence.
Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has commented. There is nothing unusual about that either. A colour scheme and a palm tree are not trademarks, and every large game launch pulls in a wave of themed hardware that never touches a licensing agreement. It is worth being clear eyed about what that means for a buyer:
- No Rockstar quality control. Nobody at the studio approved the ergonomics, the colour accuracy or the build.
- No in-game tie in. There is no bundled content, no code, no cosmetic, no early access. The Game Pass month is Microsoft's, not Rockstar's.
- No guarantee of launch timing. GameSir says shipping starts in November. Whether units land before November 19 is not confirmed, and a pad that arrives on November 25 is a pad you did not have for launch week.
The gap this is filling is real
The reason a third party can charge $89.99 for a palm tree is that the official shelf on the Xbox side is empty.
Sony announced limited edition GTA 6 DualSense controllers back in September, timed to November 19, and pre-orders sold through quickly enough that scalping became its own story. We covered the hardware in the DualSense feature breakdown, the buying process in the pre-order guide, and the resale mess in the sellout and scalper piece.
Microsoft has announced no equivalent. There is no official GTA 6 Xbox controller, no special edition console, and no announced bundle. That asymmetry has run through this entire launch cycle, from the marketing arrangement that produced "plays best on PS5" messaging to the console-shortage story on the PlayStation side. If you are setting up an Xbox for launch, our Xbox setup guide is the more useful read than any controller listing.
So GameSir is not competing with an official product. It is selling into a vacuum, and $89.99 is priced accordingly, above a standard Xbox pad and roughly in line with a mid tier pro controller.
Is it worth it
Judge it as a controller, not as merchandise. At $89.99 with swappable D-pads, a braided cable and a dock, the G7 Pro line has a real reputation on its own terms, and plenty of people buy wired pads deliberately for the latency. If you want that pad and you like the colours, the GTA theming is a free bonus.
What you should not do is buy it expecting a piece of official Grand Theft Auto hardware. If that is what you want, the only one that exists is on PlayStation, and the window on it has been tight.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the GameSir GTA 6 controller officially licensed?
No. Coverage is explicit that there is no collaboration with Rockstar, and the controllers are described as unofficial. They borrow a colour palette and a palm tree motif, not a licence.
Does it work on PS5?
No. The G7 Pro line is for Xbox consoles, PC and Android. There is no PlayStation support, which is slightly ironic given that the only official GTA 6 controller is a DualSense.
Will it arrive before GTA 6 launches?
GameSir says shipping starts in November. It has not committed to delivery before November 19, so treat launch day arrival as unconfirmed. The game's own dates are tracked in our release date hub.
Is there an official Xbox GTA 6 controller coming?
Nothing has been announced by Microsoft or Rockstar. With under three weeks to launch, a surprise announcement is possible but increasingly unlikely.
The Bottom Line
Two good wired pads in Vice City colours for $89.99, shipping some time in November, with no Rockstar involvement whatsoever. That is the whole story. Buy it because you want a G7 Pro and the palette appeals, not because it is a GTA 6 product, because it is not one. The absence of an official Xbox alternative is the more interesting fact here, and it has been the quiet pattern of this entire launch.
