Rockstar has named very few Vice City districts for GTA 6. Ocean Beach gets the attention because it is the Art Deco postcard. Little Cuba gets it because of the cultural weight. VC Port gets almost none, which is odd, because a working port is usually the most mechanically consequential district in a GTA map.
This is what is actually confirmed, and what a port district has historically meant in this series.
What is confirmed
Short list, and it is genuinely short:
- VC Port is a named Vice City district, confirmed by Rockstar alongside Ocean Beach and Little Cuba.
- That is the entire record.
No size, no position on the map, no landmarks, no businesses, no missions, no activities. Rockstar has never published a map of Leonida in any form, and no official source has stated the relative position of any district or region. Every layout you have seen is a fan reconstruction.
VC Port is not Port Gellhorn
This confusion is everywhere and it is worth settling.
| Name | What it is |
|---|---|
| VC Port | A district inside Vice City |
| Port Gellhorn | One of the six major regions of Leonida, separate from Vice City |
They are different scales of thing. Port Gellhorn is a region on par with Grassrivers or the Leonida Keys, with its own identity and presumably its own settlements. VC Port is a neighbourhood within the game's primary city. Our Port Gellhorn overview covers the region; this piece is about the city district.
That GTA 6 has both is itself the interesting detail. Leonida apparently supports two distinct maritime industrial identities, which no previous GTA map has attempted.
Why ports matter disproportionately in GTA
Across the series, the port has reliably been the district where the map's systems meet. Not because Rockstar writes great dock missions, but because a port is structurally useful:
It is where the vertical geometry is. Cranes, stacked containers, gantries and warehouse roofs produce climbable, shootable, drivable space that a street grid cannot. GTA 6 has confirmed map verticality and elevation as a design concern, and a container yard is the cheapest honest verticality a flat Florida city can offer.
It is where land and water traffic actually connect. GTA 6 confirms boats and watercraft as a vehicle category and a canal and waterway network across Vice City. A port is the hinge between those systems and the road network. See our canals and waterways piece for the water side.
It is the setting's most honest crime geography. Rockstar has confirmed a drug smuggling empire thread and a named smuggling boss in Brian Heder. A deepwater port in a Florida analogue is not set dressing for that, it is the logistics layer the story sits on.
It is where heavy vehicles have a reason to exist. Commercial haulage and heavy equipment badges only make sense if there are sites to move things between, which is why the JoBuilt and HVY rosters and a port district are the same question asked twice.
What a modern port changes
Previous GTA ports were essentially 20th century dockyards. A contemporary Vice City port would plausibly look different in ways that matter for play:
- Automation and surveillance. Modern container terminals are camera saturated and partly automated, which is a natural fit for a game confirming a smarter six star wanted system and reported vehicle security tiers.
- Cruise terminals. Miami's port is one of the busiest cruise ports in the world. A cruise terminal is a crowd density problem, and GTA 6 has confirmed crowd technology as a focus.
- Storm exposure. Ports are the first thing a hurricane damages. GTA 6 confirms storm seasons and a localised persistent weather and wind system, and whether storm damage is persistent world state is explicitly unannounced.
All three are reasonable extrapolations from confirmed facts. None is a confirmed feature.
What is explicitly not confirmed
To be clear, because port speculation tends to inflate:
- No cargo, hauling, delivery or dock work activity appears on Rockstar's published side activity list
- No smuggling mission structure has been described
- No landmark, business or building in VC Port has been named or shown
- No position for VC Port relative to Ocean Beach, Little Cuba or anywhere else
- Whether VC Port is operating, declining or derelict is unknown
That last one is not a small gap. The difference between a thriving terminal and a half abandoned one changes everything about how the district plays, and Rockstar has given no indication either way.
The useful way to think about it
Rockstar does not pre announce ambient world content. Sandy Shores and the Grand Senora Desert were never marketing beats, and they turned out to carry a lot of GTA 5. The absence of VC Port from trailers is weak evidence either way, and its presence on the confirmed district list is the stronger signal: Rockstar named only a handful of districts, and this is one of them.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is VC Port confirmed in GTA 6?
Yes, as a named Vice City district. No detail beyond the name has been confirmed by Rockstar.
Is VC Port the same as Port Gellhorn?
No. VC Port is a district inside Vice City. Port Gellhorn is one of the six major regions of Leonida and is separate from Vice City entirely.
Will there be dock or shipping missions in GTA 6?
Unannounced. No cargo, hauling, delivery or dock work activity appears on Rockstar's published side activity list, despite a confirmed drug smuggling thread in the story.
Where is VC Port on the GTA 6 map?
Nobody knows. Rockstar has never released a map of Leonida and has never stated the position of any district. Every map circulating online is a fan reconstruction.
The Bottom Line
VC Port is one of a small number of Vice City districts Rockstar has actually named, which makes the near total silence around it strange. Ports are historically where a GTA map's systems collide: verticality, water traffic, heavy vehicles and the smuggling economy all meet at the docks, and GTA 6 has confirmed every one of those ingredients separately. What Rockstar has not said is whether VC Port is a working terminal or a decaying one, and that single unknown decides what the district is actually for.
