Rockstar has put a date on the GTA 6 original score. On October 29 the studio announced that Grand Theft Auto VI: Original Score, composed by the French duo Justice, arrives on December 11, 2026, three weeks after the game itself. It carries 30 tracks plus what Rockstar describes as "a number of digital bonus tracks included across all formats," and it is coming to streaming services, CD and vinyl at once.
That makes it the first officially dated piece of Grand Theft Auto VI anything that lands after November 19. Everything else on the calendar so far has been pre-launch or launch day.
What Rockstar actually announced
The details, taken from Rockstar's own music page and its Newswire post:
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Release date | December 11, 2026 |
| Composer | Justice |
| Track count | 30, plus digital bonus tracks on all formats |
| Digital | All major streaming services, pre-save open |
| CD | Double CD |
| Vinyl | Triple LP, plus a Limited Triple Crystal Clear Vinyl |
| Out now | "Pusher" featuring Gesaffelstein |
The second single is the part worth pressing play on today. "Pusher," with Gesaffelstein, joins "Flower in a Hurricane" (featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard) as the only score material Rockstar has released. Both are listed on the official page as singles you can hear now.
Rockstar has not published a tracklist, a price for either physical edition, or a label credit for the score. Pre-orders are live through a Justice link, and the Rockstar store lists the Crystal Clear vinyl and the double CD.
Do not confuse this with The Album
There are two separate GTA 6 records, and the December date belongs to only one of them.
- Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, announced back on September 17, is 34 original tracks from named artists including Travis Scott, Keith Richards, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro, PinkPantheress and Yung Lean. It releases November 19, the same day as the game. Nine of its singles are already streaming. We broke that one down in the announcement coverage, and the physical editions are sorted edition by edition in our vinyl and CD pre-order guide.
- Original Score is the Justice record. It is the music written to sit under the game rather than inside its radio stations, and it is the one dated December 11.
If you pre-ordered vinyl in September, you bought The Album. The score is a separate purchase.
Why 30 tracks is the interesting number
Rockstar confirmed Justice as the composers on October 15, in the launch trailer, which is when we first wrote up the score. At that point it was reasonable to wonder how large the commission actually was. A studio can hire a famous name to write one trailer cue and a handful of stings.
Thirty tracks answers that. For comparison, it is a full feature-length score's worth of material, and it is being pressed across three LPs. Combined with Rockstar's own description of a dynamic score that responds to play, which we covered in the dynamic score explainer, the count suggests Justice wrote a genuine system of music rather than a set of set pieces. You do not need 30 cues to soundtrack cutscenes.
It also tells you something about how long they have been on it. Thirty tracks of finished, mixed, master-ready music does not get written in the final weeks of a project. Whoever is still polishing Grand Theft Auto VI, the composers are done.
It also quietly ends the Newswire silence
Worth noting for anyone tracking Rockstar's output cadence: before this post, the studio's last Newswire item was the launch trailer on October 15. The score announcement on October 29 lands exactly two weeks later, which is consistent with the roughly fortnightly rhythm we described in the Newswire schedule piece.
That matters because the gap had been filled by a studio-sanctioned magazine feature rather than by Rockstar itself. Edge's cover story, which we covered in the Edge 430 roundup, was published with Rockstar's cooperation but it was not a Rockstar post. This is. The distinction is worth keeping straight, because a Newswire item is the studio speaking in its own voice and a magazine preview is a journalist's framing of a studio visit.
Reading the cadence forward would put the next slot in mid-November, which is also when preload opens. Treat that as arithmetic, not a promise.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the GTA 6 original score included with the game?
Rockstar has not said the score ships with any edition of the game. It is being sold and streamed as a standalone record releasing December 11. The music will of course be in the game at launch on November 19; the album is a separate release.
What is the difference between the score and the soundtrack?
The Original Score is Justice's instrumental music written for the game, out December 11. The Album is 34 original songs from various artists, out November 19. The game's radio stations are a third thing again, with their own station lineup, covered in our radio stations hub.
How much do the vinyl and CD cost?
Rockstar has not published prices for either the double CD or the triple vinyl. Pre-orders are open through the official store and a Justice pre-order link, so listings there are the place to check.
Will there be more singles before December 11?
Nothing has been announced. Two score singles are out, "Flower in a Hurricane" and "Pusher" featuring Gesaffelstein. A six-week gap between announcement and release leaves plenty of room for more, but Rockstar has made no commitment.
The Bottom Line
The December 11 date is a small announcement with a useful signal inside it. Thirty tracks across three LPs is a serious commission, not a marketing cameo, and a finished, dated, pressed record three weeks after launch means the score was locked well before the game was. For anyone keeping a calendar, the GTA 6 release schedule now has an entry past November 19 for the first time, and it belongs to Justice.
