Twenty days from launch, this was the week the GTA 6 information flow changed character. For four months the campaign has run on trailers, leaks and inference. This week a magazine was let inside Rockstar North with a controller, and a market research firm put a number on the demand. Here is everything that happened in the week ending October 30, 2026.
The week's biggest GTA 6 story: Edge issue 430
On October 29, Edge published a 16-page cover feature by Simon Parkin, built around a studio visit and a 90-minute demo played by Rockstar's Rob Nelson, with 12 new screenshots. It is the largest single fact update since Game Informer issue 382 at the end of September.
Our full breakdown of everything Edge confirmed has the complete list. The headline items:
- The map's landmass is reportedly nearly as large as GTA 4, GTA 5 and RDR2's playable maps combined
- Aaron Garbut says the game has an order of magnitude more interiors than its predecessors
- Police deploy K-9 units in pursuits, a series first
- Police also lay spike strips, which burst a motorcycle tyre and threw both riders in the demo
- The Scooter Bros app delivers your own car within seconds, weapons still in the boot
- Jason and Lucia's bond runs on a four-level relationship scale
- Roads and highways are deliberately narrower than GTA 5's, and the day/night cycle is significantly longer
- Buses and trains function as real transport, with routes and arrival times
- Every vehicle has a fuel gauge and engine-health readout, and newer cars may carry trackers
- NPCs read whether a weapon is slung or held, with latitude before suspicion becomes heat
- Criminal Profiles run from Professional to Irredeemable
The feature also opened up the development story: Miami research began in 2015, teams work in six to eight week milestones, and Sam Houser still reviews map, story and characters.
Important framing: Edge 430 is a studio-sanctioned magazine feature, not a Rockstar Newswire post. It is the strongest sourcing short of an official announcement, but Rockstar itself has announced none of it.
Demand: Circana sets a purchase intent record
On October 28, Circana reported that 29 percent of US console and PC gamers plan to buy GTA 6, the highest purchase intent its PlayerPulse tracker has ever recorded for any game. Analyst Mat Piscatella called it "a rare cultural and commercial moment" and expects demand to extend into console, accessory and subscription sales.
Our full piece on the Circana figure explains why it is a ranking rather than a forecast, and how it differs from the Sensor Tower, Newzoo and Piper Sandler estimates. Rockstar and Take-Two have still published no official pre-order number.
Launch logistics
- Review codes reportedly shipping. An insider account on October 27 said codes were going out and claimed a November 18 embargo, the day before release. Neither is official. Our write-up of the claim sets out what is sourced and what is not.
- Install size. A 210GB figure circulated on October 28. It is a report, not a confirmation, and the separate "228GB confirmed" claim is an aggregator fabrication. Full detail in our file size piece. With preload starting November 12, the real number is now overdue.
- No disc at launch remains the position: physical boxes carry a download code, with discs reportedly following months later.
Business and labour
Rockstar's UK staff will vote on union recognition between November 12 and 26, a ballot that straddles launch week. Our coverage of the vote window explains the timing. Closing submissions in the separate Glasgow tribunal land November 17 and 18, and no ruling has been issued.
Take-Two's Q2 FY27 earnings call is November 9, the last investor update before launch, with full-year net bookings guidance of $8.0bn to $8.2bn.
Marketing
- El Clasico. GTA 6 pitchside advertising appeared during the match on October 26, Rockstar's clearest move into live sport. Details in our piece on the buy.
- McDonald's UK posted something GTA 6 shaped on October 27 with nothing announced by either party. See our note on the teaser.
- Manni L. Perez hosted her first Instagram Live and declined every GTA 6 question, which is the cast NDA working exactly as reported.
Debunked this week
A palm tree emoji from streamer Shirrako was read as proof of an early review copy. It is not. Our fact-check covers it.
Still unannounced, 20 days out
Nothing changed this week on any of these: going gold, the official install size, any voice cast member, any ESRB or PEGI rating, any official pre-order figure, any official review embargo or spoiler policy, PC in any form, and GTA Online for GTA 6 in any form. Going gold is the most overdue of the set.
Frequently Asked Questions
Did Rockstar announce anything officially this week?
No. The week's biggest story, Edge 430, is a magazine feature produced with studio cooperation, not a Newswire post. There was no official Rockstar or Take-Two announcement between October 24 and 30.
Is the November 18 review embargo confirmed?
No. It comes from an insider claim alongside the report that review codes are shipping. Rockstar has published no review guidelines, embargo date or footage policy.
What are the next dates to watch?
November 9 for Take-Two's earnings call, November 12 for preload and the opening of the union ballot, November 17 and 18 for tribunal closing submissions, and November 19 for launch.
Has the release date changed?
No. GTA 6 remains scheduled for November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, at $79.99 standard and $99.99 ultimate.
The Bottom Line
The Edge feature did more to fill in GTA 6's picture than anything since Game Informer, and it did it on gameplay specifics rather than scale claims: spike strips, K-9 units, car trackers, working buses, weapon posture and a four-level relationship scale. Circana then confirmed in survey form what the pre-order estimates have implied all autumn. What is still missing is everything that only Rockstar can say, starting with going gold and the install size, with preload 13 days away.
